Roberta K. Eichler
Executive Director

Roberta joined The Volunteer Center in 1989 as the Director of Recruitment and Referral. She achieved the position of Executive Director in 1994.

Roberta has been and continues to be a strong supporter of many nonprofit organizations. She has been a long-standing member of Stamford Junior Woman’s Club and is a past president of that community service organization. She was the first woman to be chairman of the board of elders of Zion Lutheran Church.

The Advocate recognized Roberta’s commitment to volunteerism by selecting her as the Community Leader of the Year in 1975. In 2001, Christopher Bruhl, President and CEO of SACIA -- the Business Council, nominated Roberta for the Ambassador in Service to Humanity award. On May 17, 2001, Catholic Family Services presented the award to Roberta at a breakfast ceremony.

In 1995, The Points of Light Foundation appointed Roberta to the National Council of Volunteer Centers (NCVC) for a three-year term. NCVC is a 12-member group of Volunteer Center directors that advises The Points of Light Foundation on volunteer issues and concerns. Roberta’s appointment to NCVC was in recognition of the innovative programs of Stamford’s Volunteer Center. On the national council, she represented the Volunteer Centers of New England and New York State.

Prior to coming to The Volunteer Center, Roberta was Community Manager of the Southwestern Fairfield County Branch for the American Heart Association, Connecticut Affiliate. She has also taught elementary education in the Stamford Public Schools.


Kathy Fawcett
Director of Volunteer Programs

As Director of Volunteer Programs, Kathy works with individual volunteers and community groups to match volunteer talent with agency needs. Her work with the Workplace Volunteer Council provides companies with appropriate group projects for their employees. She is also responsible for keeping The Volunteer Center's web site current.

Prior to joining The Volunteer Center in 2001, Kathy was with Neighbor to Neighbor, a Greenwich outreach organization that assists with food and clothing to families and individuals who find themselves in unexpected circumstances of need. Kathy continues her involvement with Neighbor as a board member.

Earlier in her career, Kathy was a trust officer in Citibank’s private banking division. She obtained her education from Hunter College, the New York Institute of Finance, the New York Institute of Banking and Gibbs College. She lives in Greenwich with her husband and two sons. While most of her work over the past few years has been of a volunteer nature, she has learned a great deal working with volunteers and clients. She has made numerous trips to Bosnia over the past two years as a board member of Connecticut Friends of Bosnia.


Candace Burke
Director of Partnership Development

As Director of Partnership Development, Candace administers The Volunteer Center’s Nonprofit Resource Center, and is responsible for development. Her wonderful planning and communication skills are a tremendous asset to The Volunteer Center.

Candace has a diverse background as a volunteer in the Stamford community and maintains an active role in the Stamford PLTI (Parent Leadership Training Institute) Alumni Assoc. Candace lives in Stamford with her son.

Prior to joining The Volunteer Center Candace worked at ROSCCO, before and after school programs for school age children as a site coordinator and science specialist. In addition to working on children's programs with the Board of Ed and Girl Scout Council, Candace previously spent 25 years in advertising.


Suzanne Conron
Director, Court Program & CVIA

Suzanne recruits and matches volunteer skills to specific agency requests, and organizes community service projects for groups. Suzanne is The Volunteer Center's Community Volunteers in Action (CVIA) coordinator and administers our Directors of Volunteers in Agencies (DOVIA) program.

A native New Canaanite, Suzanne has been active in her town, volunteering at The New Canaan Library's quarterly book sales, an active member of The Kiwanis Club of New Canaan, and as a Constable in the town of New Canaan for over 20 years. She is a member of the Citizens Emergency Response Team and a volunteer at the New Canaan Nature Center.

Prior to joining The Volunteer Center team, Suzanne worked at The New Canaan Advertiser as an advertising account executive. She is a graduate of Boston University with a BS in Broadcasting and Film.


Stefanie Docimo
Administrative Assistant

Stefanie provides administrative support for The Volunteer Center's staff, board of directors and its committees and programs. She administers the Item Donation Program.

Prior to joining The Volunteer Center, Stefanie worked for 11 years with United Way of Stamford in their Accounting Department and as a Marketing and Campaign Assistant. Stefanie graduated from Gibbs College in 1992 with an Executive Secretary degree and earned her paralegal degree in 1993.

Stefanie is a Stamford native who enjoys gourmet cooking, baking, and has a creative streak with arts and crafts. She likes to roller blade and ski.

Lorna Sikora
Director of the Court Program

As Director of the Court Program Lorna conducts interviews for court ordered community service. She assigns clients to appropriate nonprofit agencies while being attentive to the agency’s needs. Lorna maintains good relations with the agencies and probation, while maintaining records for CSSD, the Court and clients, as well as statistics, documentation and reports..

Prior to joining the Volunteer Center, Lorna worked for Pre-Trial Services, Inc., NY, as a Program Assistant and a Bail Expediting Bail Expediting Program Assistant.
